This form is for people who would like to volunteer to shop-sit or barista at Reception during
open hours. If you want to host an event or hire the space please fill out the other form
(linked on the Welcome2Reception Instagram) or if you'd like to help out in another way email us
at tradeshall.reception@gmail.com.
Reception will regularly be open between 8am-5pm weekdays and 10am-4pm weekends (volunteer
capacity dependent).
Shop Sitter Role:
- Hang out in reception during open hours.
- Welcome and interact with people who come into Reception.
- Take payments and record sales of the stuff we have for sale.
- Close/tidy up at the end of the day.
- Triage enquiries from people who come into reception to get involved in organising/unions.
- Start time flexible.
Barista Role:
- Essentially the same as shop sitting but you know how to use the coffee machine.
- Start time: Open and serving by 8am. You can open earlier if you want to.
- Barista experience required (for now). We may offer training in future. Come in and talk in
person if you're interested but uncertain.
What we need from you:
- Enthusiastic about union and community organising.
- Comfortable being sole charge in the shop.
- Willing to ask for help if confused.
- Able to commit to a regular shift (frequency flexible, e.g. weekly, fortnightly, monthly,
depending on your capacity).
- Communication. You are a free human but please don't ghost us. We are also volunteers.
When we receive your application we will contact you and arrange a time for you to come in for an
introductory meeting.
